Opportunities for Service at FPC-McAllen
As we make plans for the summer and next fall the following areas need you! If you’re interested in serving in one of the following capacities, call or e-mail the respective person(s) listed in parenthesis.

Leading a game or craft activity for kids during summer Sunday School. (Rebecca Villarreal: 682-2836 or rvillarreal1@sbcglobal.net)

Teaching one of the sections of Confirmation in the fall/spring. This involves one to three hour-long sessions with our 8th graders. We have a great curriculum to follow and our kids are such an inspiration and a blessing. (Rebecca Villarreal: 682-2836 or rvillarreal1@sbcglobal.net)

Working with one of the Youth Groups (Jr. High or Sr. High) in the fall/spring. We need folks to lead activities on Sunday evenings, to chaperone events, to offer up their homes for parties, and to travel with us to such exotic locations as Mo-Ranch and John Knox Ranch. If you haven’t helped out with the youth you’re missing out. They’re the best! They keep you young! They keep you laughing! (Rebecca Villarreal: 682-2836 or rvillarreal1@sbcglobal.net)

Do you like putting together puzzles? Are you handy with a paint brush? From June 4 – August 27 all the kids will be meeting in Room 103 downstairs for some summertime fun on Sunday mornings. If you’re 2 – 11 we have some fun games and crafts for you to be involved in. If you’re a Jr. High or High School student we could use your help with the little ones. (Rebecca Villarreal: 682-2836 or rvillarreal1@sbcglobal.net)

Do you like telling stories to children? Then maybe you’d be interested in sharing your “storytelling” talents each Sunday or becoming an understudy with the intention of taking over the Children’s Sermon. (Church office: 682-2836 or fpchurch@sbcglobal.net; or Becky Smith: 369-6825)

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT AT FPC
Items Needed for VBS
For our Vacation Bible School theme, “Adventures of the Treasure Seekers,” we need a number of items to make our assembly area look authentic. If you have anything you can loan us, please put your name somewhere on the item and bring them to the church by June 5. We need shovels, trowels, picks, wheelbarrows, wooden folding rulers, ropes, magnifying glasses, tiki torches, binoculars, old ceramic pots (the bigger the better), and digging tools. They will be used the week of June 12-16. Thanks!
Welcome our newest members
Stan & Linda Morris were received by the Session into church membership on Tuesday, May 9th. Please offer our newest members a warm FPC welcome.

Julie Kozma completes Middle East tour
Our daughter-in-law is safe at home in Germany after a five-month tour in the Middle East. We thank all of you for your prayers and support. A special thank you to the Youth Group and the great card that Josh Weedon made for her. What would we do without each other! God bless.
— Gwyn, Dick, and Esther Kozma

Camp Information available
Summer is here and registration forms for John Knox Ranch and Mo-Ranch are available on the upstairs bulletin board at the south end of the building. We want your kids to experience a Presbyterian camp and have scholarships available to all church members to help defray the costs. Check it out!! Your children will be glad you did.

Applause for the Graduating Seniors Luncheon
I want to thank the following people for helping with the “Graduating Seniors Luncheon” on Sunday, April 30: Jan Brown, Mike Corso (our resident master chef who prepared the barbecue sandwiches), Jeannie Emmons, Nadine Force, Kathryn Fullinwider, Joe Garza, Joan Graham, Barbara Hervey, Dick Kozma, Becky and Lauren Smith, Sonny Sparks, Joy Tittle, Adela Zamora, and Patrick Villarreal. I also want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to all those members of our church family who provided the delicious desserts and side dishes. – Gretchen Chapa, Fellowship Ministry Chair
